Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen

That, of course, completely ignores the 50 million 'offer' that finkel and wilder made to joshua that they couldn't provide any evidence of funds for. And ignores every time wilder said he would come to the UK to fight. And then said joshua should go to America because that's where the money is. And then said he got offered more money to fight joshua. He's contradicted himself so many times it's embarrassing.

As ever with boxing, there's two sides to the story and not too many trustworthy people involved. Personally, I'd sit on the side who has fought every mandatory rather than the side that spent 3 years avoiding theirs.

"But what Hearn and Joshua did with their offer to Wilder was akin to Sullivan bidding £10 million for Lionel Messi and then saying that he tried his best to land Messi"

It isn't really though, is it?

Offering £20m for Wilder to fight against Joshua was probably right for his market value. He's still barely known in the States!

Instead, he actually took the pittance and took half that with the Fury fight and it's backfired on him massively.

I'm not Hearn's fan at all, by the way.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Lee - if you assume that you should always take the most money on offer no matter what then yes, Wilder ducked him.

If, as I do, you assume that making someone an offer that is so derisory that they are bound to turn it down is ducking then Hearn and AJ ducked. Your call really. I know where I stand.

But what Hearn and Joshua did with their offer to Wilder was akin to Sullivan bidding £10 million for Lionel Messi and then saying that he tried his best to land Messi but was surprised that Barcelona said no.

You are aware the way you've described it sounds like Wilder ducked him!

Passerby66 4:07 Fri Apr 30
Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Griffin - you don't understand how boxing works. Yes, Wilder turned down more money to box Joshua than he was getting to fight Fury, but that misunderstands the mechanics of the situation and does not mean that he was ducking him.

Let's say (for example) that a Unifiication World Championship fight between Joshua and Wilder would gross £100million and a world title fight between Wilder and Fury would gross £15 million.

When Hearn offers £20 million to Wilder and keeps £80 million for Joshua that is not an acceptable deal. When Wilder gets £10 million and Fury gets £5 million then that is.

Joshua (or more likely Hearn) ducked Wilder by offering him a purse that was a pittance of what he should have made for that fight. For all his blathering on about A-sides etc Hearn knew that the offer would be unacceptable and only made it so he could say that he made an offer that Wilder turned down. But make no mistake, Hears was ducking WIlder to keep his cash cow Joshua milking.

It's highly likely that Hearn is doing the same thing today with Fury. The fucking Essex prick.

Wilder did not duck AJ. AJ ducked Wilder

Even wilder has admitted he was offered more to fight joshua than he was to fight fury. He thought he could beat fury more easily and came unstuck. He ducked whyte and Joshua and still lost.

As for this... tough to call for me. Both have struggled against smaller blokes (although granted only one of them actually lost) and have done their best work against bigger, similar sized heavyweights. Should actually be half decent

dolph 3:21 Fri Apr 30
Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Not clear cut either way for me. Neither boxer is that great in reality. Joshua lost to an overweight fighter given a few weeks notice, and Fury was close to losing to Chisora (when Chisora was even shitter than he is now) and also uppercutted himself in the face during a fight.

Not sure Joshua is just a power merchant though. Seen almost all his fights and can't remember him getting outboxed, so it's not necessarily the case of "only a lucky punch can win this for him".

Difficult fight for the best heavyweights of their era, which is why this will be the biggest grossing fight ever.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
I hope it happens soon given the longer Fury goes without a fight the less conditioned and motivated he will be.

If Fury is close to fit AJ only has a punchers chance. He wont be able to get near Fury and given he got out manoeuvred by that fat Mexican bloke his only chance is toe to toe and he will get smothered under Fury's movement.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Fury wins this for me. Way too clever. Unless Joshua can manage to land one huge punch, but I don't think he'll get near him.

AJ and Wilder didn't mean the same way in which Wilder ducked Whyte, the WBC wanted Wilder as their champion.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Wilder and AJ have very similar records.
both fought Molina, Breazeale and a lot of other middle of the road fighters.

Wilder was the WBC champ, the belt everyone wants. He was also unbeaten and the biggest puncher in the division. Ranked 1, 2 or 3 by all the organisations. At the time he was the biggest name you could have on your CV.

For whatever reason him and AJ never met.

Fury beat him and beat the best heavyweight of his generation. Both were world champions at the time.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Wilder fought absolutely nobody, goose.

As I said earlier, this just shows the division is still relatively shit.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Fury had already beaten Klitschko. How long had VK been champion for???

Vlad was 41, Joshua was the favourite to win that fight. He was very lucky to make it out of round 6/7.

Fury has taken the belts off VK and then Wilder.

Sorry, Joshua has beat all mandatory challengers.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Fury has beaten Klitschko, which yes he deserves massive credit for as no one gave him a hope.

Since then, he got battered up by Wallin, an absolute nobody.

Fury, albeit his opponents aren't brilliant have all been mandatory challengers.

Re: Joshua Vs Fury - will it happen?
Not sure I'd be calling Wilder an exceptional fighter either.

He needs to fight a few more bigger names first for me to gauge how good he actually is.
